Letter of Intent Signed Regarding the Transfer of
Murata Manufacturing’s Power Supply Business
NICHICON CORPORATION (hereinafter, “Nichicon”) and Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (hereinafter, “Murata”), today announced the signing of a letter of intent to transfer part of Murata’s power supply business (including a portion of the AC-DC switching power supplies and the high-voltage power supplies) to Nichicon (hereinafter, “transaction”). Going forward, upon further review of the power supply business and discussion of this transaction terms, the two parties aim to execute the transaction by the end of May 2017.
Nichicon has strengthened efforts toward implementing core capacitor, circuitry and inverter technologies in the fields of digital household electronics and information and communications, as well as in growth markets including the environment, energy, automotive, railway car and medical fields. In line with this business policy, this transaction is expected to contribute to the growth of Nichicon’s power supply business by expanding our customer base.
In the event this transaction is expected to have a significant impact on consolidated earnings, the details of this impact will be announced accordingly.
